EcoChar & Soil Amendments
ECOCHAR is a biochar-based soil amendment produced from a variety of recycled agricultural and organic feedstocks, including certain manures, forage materials, distillers grains, wood residues, nut shells, rice hulls, and other approved organic by-products. Depending on the feedstock used, ECOCHAR may contain naturally occurring nutrients that can contribute to soil improvement programs.
ECOCHAR applications should be based on site-specific goals and may benefit from soil testing, plant tissue analysis, and recommendations from qualified agricultural professionals.

Distributors of ECOCHAR
ECOCHAR is produced through our EARTHCARE Gasification System, which processes selected organic feedstocks into a carbon-rich material. Feedstocks may include agricultural by-products, wood residues, biosolids approved for processing, food processing by-products, and other suitable organic materials.
The gasification process operates at high temperatures and is intended to significantly reduce biological activity within the feedstock. Product characteristics may vary depending on source materials and processing conditions.
The resulting product may be suitable for a variety of agricultural, horticultural, landscaping, and environmental applications. Research and field experience suggest that biochar products can help support soil structure, moisture retention, nutrient management, and other soil quality objectives when used as part of an overall management program.
Potential Applications
Potential applications may include soil improvement projects, nutrient management programs, compost enhancement, land reclamation efforts, water quality initiatives, odor management studies, and other environmental or agricultural projects. Results will vary depending on soil conditions, climate, crop type, application rates, and management practices.
Users are encouraged to work with qualified agronomists, conservation professionals, extension specialists, or other agricultural advisors when evaluating potential applications and expected outcomes.
Difference In Our EcoChars Based On Type Of Feedstock Processed
The primary differences between ECOCHAR products are typically related to nutrient content and pH characteristics.
- Manure-based chars generally contain higher levels of phosphorus (P) and potassium (K), along with varying amounts of calcium (Ca), magnesium (Mg), sulfur (S), and micronutrients.
- Distillers grain-based chars may contain higher levels of nitrogen (N) and different nutrient balances compared to manure-based chars.
- Many manure-based chars are alkaline and may be beneficial in certain acidic soil conditions.
- Distillers grain-based chars may have a more neutral pH, which may be suitable for some soils where additional alkalinity is not desired.
- Like many biochar products, ECOCHAR may contribute to water-holding capacity, nutrient retention, microbial habitat development, and long-term carbon storage when incorporated into appropriate soil management programs.
Soil Solutions
Natural Char Solutions encourages the use of soil testing and professional agronomic guidance when developing soil improvement strategies. ECOCHAR should be evaluated as one component of a comprehensive soil management program. Performance will vary by application, and no specific environmental, agronomic, or economic results are guaranteed.
